Welcome Home Retreats

Our retreats work hard at creating a sense of home and well being and for this reason, we select spaces that are singular and which embrace the landscape of Kerry.  Within this environment we can breathe and we can unwind; we connect with the world around us and celebrate the part we play in it, finding out who we are and what our purpose here is

Our Summer Solstice 20 - 24 June 2024 Retreat will take place in the immensely beautiful Barrow House.

OUTDOORS

During your time at Welcome Home, you will experience the incredible beauty to be found off the roads. Maurice has spent years hiking and walking in the Kerry landscape and will lead you on two hikes, sharing his knowledge and understanding of this unique landscape.

As well as hiking, you can expect other outdoor activities such as a unique sauna experience immersed in nature and boat trips which allow you a different vantage point and a chance to connect with our marine life.  And perhaps an unforgettable trip to an iconic pub!

YOGA

Each day will begin and end with yoga.  Yoga is an ancient practice and meditation, and it has become increasingly popular. For many people, yoga provides a retreat from their chaotic and busy lives. The goal during yoga practice is to challenge yourself physically, but not to feel overwhelmed. At this "edge," the focus is on your breath while your mind is accepting and calm. Yoga develops inner awareness. It focuses your attention on your body's abilities at the present moment. It helps develop breath and strength of mind and body.  We are incredibly fortunate to have Miss Char Holmes with us; she will lead you each day on the mat.

What to Bring

Ireland is famous for its unreliability in its weather.  We always say, ‘tis better to be looking at it than for it!’ so make sure you bring a jacket.  If you are seeking guaranteed sunshine, Ireland is not the place for you.... and yet, when the sun shines in Kerry, there is no place like it.  The National Geographic has cited Dingle, Co Kerry as one of the most beautiful places on earth.

If you want clean air, and outstanding beauty in the landscape around you, then Ireland is most definitely for you.  We have planned our Retreats around months in which we expect better weather - when the sun shines in Ireland it is a paradise and the temperature can get hot - so be prepared for that too.

We will be spending considerable amounts of time outdoors so you need to pack accordingly.  No matter what the temperature, you should use sun protection. Below is a list of what you should consider when packing.

Be comfortable, be you.

You will need to include:

Good hiking shoes or runners/trainers

A waterproof jacket - you may not need it, but again, ‘better to be looking at it than for it!’

Warm clothing which can be layered when walking or sitting around in the evening

Clothes for walking & for being out on the water - if you do not have specific gear, these clothes need to be comfortable - not jeans

A hat - both for keeping the sun off and/or the heat in

Swimwear - we will be in the water often

Whatever you usually wear for yoga

Comfortable clothes for sitting around the house in the evening
